Key Information
Safeguarding
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility.
At Wallop Primary School, safeguarding is at the heart of everything we do. We are committed to keeping children safe, helping them feel they belong, feel secure and supported, and teaching them how to keep themselves and others safe. We follow the statutory guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education (2025) and work closely with families and external agencies to protect and promote children’s wellbeing.
A strong safeguarding culture
Safeguarding at Wallop is about more than policies and procedures. It is about the everyday culture of our school – how adults act, how children are taught, and how concerns are listened to and taken seriously.
Children are taught about safety:
-
Through PSHE and computing, including online safety
-
Across the whole curriculum, in age-appropriate ways
-
Through our school values, behaviour code and high expectations
-
By learning how to speak up, ask for help and treat others with respect
We want our children to feel confident, resilient and safe, and to know that trusted adults will listen and help.
Our safeguarding commitment
-
All staff and volunteers are recruited and trained with safeguarding as a priority
-
Staff receive regular safeguarding training and updates
-
Clear systems are in place for reporting and responding to concerns
-
Safeguarding concerns are acted upon promptly and appropriately
-
Children’s welfare is always put first
Safer Recruitment
Wallop Primary School is committed to safer recruitment as part of our safeguarding culture. All staff and regular volunteers are recruited through robust procedures designed to deter, identify and prevent unsuitable adults from working with children. This includes appropriate checks such as identity, qualifications, references, right to work in the UK and enhanced DBS checks, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education. At least one member of every interview panel has safer recruitment training, and all staff receive safeguarding training as part of their induction.

Prevent and online safety
As part of our safeguarding responsibilities, we support the government’s Prevent Strategy, which aims to protect children from being drawn into extremism or radicalisation. We help pupils to build resilience, think critically and engage in open, respectful discussion in an age-appropriate way.
Online safety is an important part of safeguarding at Wallop Primary School. Pupils are taught how to stay safe and behave responsibly when using technology, and we work closely with parents and carers to promote consistent messages at home and at school.
Safeguarding policies
Our safeguarding and child protection policies are available in the policy section of the website. Please contact the school if you have any questions or would like further information.
